Athala Kuthala Pathalam is a 30-min telugu drama which has a potential enough to bring a change in our way of thinking. It is one of the very few films which fit a block into the current set of films with a social conscience. Yet it didn't make its way around to the 1-lakh views category as the film was released in a new youtube channel with almost no subscribers.
The film picturises the defferences those generate in a typical father and son relationship - How a father thinks FOR his son and how a SON thinks for his own life. Its a mental war between the passion a son would strive for and the life a dad would wish for his son to strive for. The film tells us how to pick ourselves up and keep moving and growing regardless of the bitter circumstances we have around. For sure, this film could enlighten a dim spot of your brain atleast for those 5min of climax.
The film is visually-arresting. Its a great visual work done by Sravan-Sriman visuals, cinematographed by Sriman Keerthi. It immerses audience into the film-world completely as much as the actors could have been immersed during the shoot. This is definitely one of the good visual works to be inspired from, by the entire younger generation of short film makers. Though visual work dominated the whole show, the actors Mohan, Veer, Pawan, Nayeem and Srinivasarao always tried to give the film a life.
The film's music composed by Ashic Arun is yet another biggest companion of this work. He did 100 percent justice to the story and gave a remarkable feel to the viewers.
Nevertheless, I have to admit that this film is something that couldn't be understandable and felt by most of the audience as there are neither any female characters nor any comedy in it. And at times you find it boring and feel like chosing something else to play from the videos you have on your screen. But Only those who continue to watch till the end could get the real flavor, that Sravan Pandrangi might have tasted while writing the script. As it is a concept probably born out of sheer depression and frustration towards one's life, it takes broad minds to admire it.
Over all the odds and evens, Sravan Pandrangi's commitment towards maintaining the quality through out the film makes you feel like watching it for the second time as I'm sure you wouldn't want to skip watching any shot of this beautiful play.
Unique aspects :
Portraying a play
The ending scene where the light is being slowly turned off on the entire screen except where the king hugs the prince.
Too much of lag
Dim Lighting ( though the concept requires it to be dim)
Good Luck to the whole team . Keep amazing and inspiring us with more of your visuals.
