When we hear the word Bengal, the sweets come right out of our minds. In the same time Bengali women with beautiful bindi too. Many of us have the Bengal crush. Why I'm saying all this because the first person that we feature in our new series is a Bengali.
Let's cut to the chase.
That girl's name is Priiyankaa Dey. Bengali supermodel and actress. Who has made national brands, endorser for many luxury jewelry brands. She has appeared in Mahalaya, Raktakorobi and many other Bengali movies.
She is now ready to make her Tollywood debut with the Shyam Singha Roy movie starring Nani, Sai Pallavi and Krithi Shetty. Besides this, she is signed for Koteswarao Gari Kodukulu film for the main role directing by Naveen Eragani.
You are a model before you entering into the films. What attracted you to begin your career as a model and as an actress? Why do you feel this is the ideal profession for you?
It all began as a kid. Since childhood, I've watched Miss India, Miss World contests. And I was really fond of them. I was a cinephile. I wanted to be a superstar since I was a little girl. All this has brought me to this field.
How did you get your first opportunity?
I've appeared in a number of reality shows on Bengali television, including KBC. One of the television channels approached me at that time and offered a television advertisement. From there, all unfolded.
Motivation is important within the acting profession. What would you say is your motivator currently? How do you remain positive and focused within your role?
I aspire to be an actress. This is my main source of inspiration. Whatever I can get, I have to give it my all. These are the things that keep me awake and alert.
What is your experience with Shyam Singha Roy?
It's my first Telugu film. I'm in a new region, speaking a different language, and meeting new people. This film features plenty of stars. The dialogues were extremely difficult to pronounce. But I eventually finished it. On the first day of shooting, I was a little nervous.Nani sir arrived on the set. "Sir, can I do a rehearsal with you?" I asked. “Of course, we can do it two or three times,” he replied. It alleviated all of my anxiety. Everything else went smoothly after that.
Since beginning your career tell us about a situation that has made you proud. Why was this, and what was the outcome?
I used to see hoardings for well-known jewelry brands on the roadside when I took the local train. I used to tell my mother that one day I'd be there as well. My mother always says, "You will certainly become one day."
The big day had come. I was appointed as a brand ambassador for a well-known Bengali jewelry company. In West Bengal, I was featured on over 200 billboards. That was my first moment of pride.
My slogan is "never settle for second best." I used to tell myself that I needed to do more and more.
